Ms.
Wood has substantial litigation experience in a
multitude of practice areas, specifically
concentrating in the areas of Family Law, Juvenile Law, Criminal
Defense, General Civil Litigation and Appellate
Practice. She was selected by her peers to become a member of the
Leading Lawyers Network of Top Lawyers. Ms. Wood is also a
trained family law mediator.
Ms. Wood was born in Rochester, Minnesota, in 1968. She earned her
Bachelor of Science at Illinois State University in 1990. In 1994,
she received her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. While
attending law school, she was awarded Best Brief as a Moot Court
Participant in the Chicago Bar Association Competition. She was admitted to the Illinois Bar
and U.S. District Court, Northern and Central Districts of Illinois
in 1994. Ms. Wood is the author of "Preparing Your Client for
Divorce Mediation," published in the ISBA General Practice, Vol. 26,
No. 4, in May 1998, and "Preparation and Use of Marital Inventories"
published in the ISBA General Practice Vol. 27, No. 1, in August 1998. She is an active member of the McLean County, Illinois
State, and American Bar Associations, as well as the Association of
Trial Lawyers of America. She was also a member of the General
Practice Section of the Illinois State Bar from 1995 to 1998. Ms.
Wood currently serves on the Board of Directors for Heartland Headstart and is Council Chair of the Family Violence Coordinating
Council of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit while also Co-Chairing the
McLean County Domestic Violence Task Force. Prior to entering
into private practice, she was an Assistant State's Attorney in Mclean
County from 1994 to 1995.
